February 18th, the Blackford School Board voted to approve the conditional waiver which eliminates the delayed start on Wednesdays beginning February 26th. This change was approved for this year only. We plan to return to the delayed start on Wednesdays next school year. Starting Wednesday, February 26th we will start every day at 8:05 am for the remainder of this school year.
Karen Mealy, BHS Guidance Counselor, has asked me to share some information with all 8th grade students and parents. Please read the letter below and have a wonderful week!
Hi, I am one of the counselors at BHS, I would like to invite you to 8th grade orientation night. This is a night for 8th grade students and parents to come to the high school and learn about high school course offerings, diploma requirements and college readiness. We are excited to be working with Mr. Hill to start this scheduling process for your child's freshman year.
Some information about the upcoming scheduling process include Mr. Hill meeting with all 8th graders to discuss courses being offered at the high school. Your child will have recommendations made by current teachers on which Math and Science courses your child should take next year. Your child will bring home their course selection paperwork that you can go over with them. We need you to attend 8th grade orientation night so that you can turn in your child's course request sheets on this night. This orientation night will be very informative and beneficial. It will help your child select the appropriate courses and prepare for high school.
We look forward to your participation during this process. We are excited to meet your child and get them started on their high school career. Blackford High School has implemented some great new programs this year and we hope to continue on this upward trend in the future.
Feel free to contact myself or Mr. Hill if you have any questions. We will send home additional information with your child as reminders. Please feel free to share this information with other 8th grade parents.
8th GRADE ORIENTATION for HIGH SCHOOL SCHEDULING: Wednesday, March 5th at 6:30pm at Blackford High School.
All BJHS 8th graders and parents are invited to attend.
I look forward to working with you in this process.
