2022 Jennerjahn Most Improved Students

Hard work, determination, and grit were just some of the words used to describe the efforts of the 2022 Jennerjahn Most Improved Students during last night's recognition banquet held at Taylor University.

Students in grades 2-8 were selected by their teachers for the honor. Criteria included: academic achievement, grades, annual pre-test and post-test data, ILEARN scores, attendance, conduct, effort put forth and other principal insights. Once the final selections were made, the students were invited to a banqet hosted by local philanthropist Ruth Jennerjahn.

As proud parents and grandparents looked on, each student was brought forward by their principal as their teachers shared about the student's improvement over the school year. Nearly every teacher described the intense effort and hard work each student put forth for improvement.

Students recognized for their accomplishments include (front row from left) Gage Fields, 4th grade, MES; Jaxon Williams, 3rd grade, MES; Katelynn Oswalt, 5th grade, MES; Joseph Daugherty, 2nd grade, MES; Waverly Schauer, 2nd grade, Northside; Kaden Casada, 4th grade, BIS; Taytum Whiteley, 5th grade, BIS; (back row from left) Matthew Stone, 6th grade, BIS; Payton Tungate, 6th grade, MES; Riley Bogenschutz, 8th grade, BJSHS; and Brady Bannister, 7th grade, BJSHS.

This is the 18th year the Jennerjahn family has hosted the awards ceremony to honor the hard-working students of Blackford County Schools.  During the program, Ruth Jennerjahn thanked  the many teachers who were in attendance to support their students. She also asked for a round of applause for the parents for all they do to help. For their efforts, each student received a certificate and a gift from the Jennerjahn family.
