The 4th graders at BIS are working on an argumentative brochure to persuade their audience about which park they think is the best in Blackford County. We did field research this week to observe Sigma Phi Gamma Founder's Park. The students did a quick illustration, a general description, and at least 3 special features of the park.

Preschool students had a very special guest today! Officer Joel Allred from the Hartford City Police Department stopped by to read books to the classes. Officer Allred was welcomed by Preschool teachers: Ms. Bre Heine, Ms. Kiley Eppard, Mrs. Autumn Moore and Mrs. Jodi Bacon.

BJSHS students in Mr. Aaron Murphy's Health class had a great time today learning about resilience by making free standing towers. They were tasked to make the tallest tower possible using marshmallows, spaghetti noodles, tape and string. Half way through, disaster struck and they lost half of their supplies. They regrouped and kept focused on the task at hand. They learned that we can’t control what happens to us, we can only control how we respond to it.

The 7th grade Bruins in Ms. Shelby Capper's class at BJSHS enjoyed a tasty lesson!
According to Ms. Capper: Did you know waffles helped inspire the cofounder of Nike? 7th grade ELA maintenance class does now! They celebrated national waffle week by learning to write claims about how waffles helped shape the sneaker industry! Of course, we had to finish off the week with…WAFFLES!

BPS staff kicked off the two-hour delay with Assistant Superintendent David Parker discussing Growth Mindset and Productive Struggle during his portion of staff training.
