At Monday's HOSA Blood Drive at BJSHS, there were 78 amazing donors who came out and attempted to donate! Thanks to the generosity of students and staff, Versiti was able to collect 64 units of blood, which amounts to 192 lives saved! The Versiti blood drive coordinator sent this to HOSA Sponsor Yvette Rouch: 'Thank you so so much for helping us save lives yesterday. The enthusiasm and dedication your students have is contagious. It made my week to know just how many lives would potentially be saved. You never know when blood will be needed and it is why having a ready blood supply is so vital to our community. Transfusion of blood and blood products helps save millions of lives every year. It can help patients suffering from life-threatening conditions live longer and with higher quality of life, and supports complex medical and surgical procedures. It also has an essential, life-saving role in maternal and child care and during man-made and natural disasters.' Thank you for donating, Bruins! You really are making all the difference in the world! #MakingADifferenceAtBCS

Blackford Primary School has gone to the dogs this week! Ultimate Canine brought over some of their puppies that are participants in the Puppies in Training program. According to Ericka Rogers, school social worker at BPS, "These canines will be used as therapy dogs in schools, hospitals, and other facilities all over the country. We were happy to be a part of their training and look forward to future visits with them!"

An important message from Mrs. Yvette Rouch: "The Health Careers Blood Drive is next Tuesday, September 27, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the BJSHS Auxiliary Gym. All donated blood stays within our area. My daughter, dad, and mom all had their lives saved because of a blood donor, and I am sure the majority of you have a loved one who was also saved, or given hope, by a donor. Blood supplies are very short right now. We can use your help." Please consider donating by using this link: https://donate.indiana.versiti.org/donor/schedules/drive_schedule/155395 By donating blood, you will: - Burn 650 calories - Give up to 3 people hope (through red blood cells, plasma, and platelets) - Help our Health Careers club (HOSA) increase the amount of scholarships that can be offered to one of our own BJSHS seniors.
